SGS Canada, Mississauga, New Building Automation System, 2021
Comfort Care Inc. completed a comprehensive design-Build contract for a new Building Automation System (BAS) for this pharmaceutical and testing facility. It was for replacing the existing stand-alone controls on 21 rooftop units (RTUs) with a centralized, web-based automation platform. The new system enables real-time temperature control, alarm management, and animated graphical monitoring for all HVAC equipment.
The project scope included the removal of existing thermostats, installation of new BAS temperature sensors, relays, and control wiring, as well as full programming, integration, and commissioning based on the owner’s operational sequence. Comfort Care Inc. also integrated three existing exhaust fans into the BAS for coordinated control with the air handling systems.
In addition to HVAC automation, the project featured energy monitoring capabilities through the installation and programming of hydro, water, and gas sub-meters, providing hourly to yearly consumption tracking in graphical and tabular formats. A graphical front-end interface was configured with trending, alarm functions, and system reporting tools, ensuring clear visibility of system performance.
The project was delivered complete with as-built documentation, operator training, and a fully licensed web-based software system supporting up to 25 controllers—demonstrating Comfort Care Inc.’s ability to implement advanced, energy-efficient, and user-friendly building control solutions.
